India again gave a fantastic effort in the second T20 of the India vs Zimbabwe series, beating Zimbabwe by 90 runs and gaining a 2-0 lead in the three-game series at Harare Sports Club.
India was given the first innings and rebounded with a good display to put the pressure on Zimbabwe. Ishan Kishan went off for a classy 81 off 44 balls, had the timing and aggression, and had the ability to attack loose deliveries. His unbeaten 60 from 29 balls was a fearless knock played by Tilak Varma along with him and made India the explosive finish they had been looking for.
The Kishan-Varma duo turned the tide of the game. Their 4th-wicket stand of 94, which occurred very quickly, got them to a mammoth 219-5 and put Zimbabwe in a challenge to climb.
Openers Brian Bennett had some fight to kick Zimbabwe’s chase off, hitting a fast 32 off 19 balls to provide a temporary lift for the home side. However, as soon as he left the field, the innings fell apart under the scoreboard.
India bowlers maintained their pressure and struck relentlessly. Debutant Yash Thakur got his name in the limelight with 2 wickets; meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma showcased his brilliance with the ball with 3-17. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 129 in 17.5 overs, well short of the target.
The win comes after India built a strong lead in the first T20, chasing with seven wickets up front. Given the series victory, India will now see what they can achieve on Sunday in the closing game.
