UFC superstar Conor McGregor has come out of a disastrous comeback with a challenge to Logan Paul for a blockbuster WWE match for the UFC.
Following his highly-anticipated appearance at UFC 329, when McGregor reportedly sustained serious damage to his right knee in the main event with Max Holloway, his stint was cut short at just 69 seconds. The 2017 5-division UFC champion lay in wait for five years following breaking his foot in 2021, but now his upcoming bout is jeopardized once again.
Paul said on his podcast IMPAULSIVE that he didn’t think McGregor would win after just so much time and turmoil. While he admitted the Irishman has made an incredible impact in the sport of MMA, in the UFC, and in crossover boxing, the WWE star was quite brutal when it came to his current state.
Paul said McGregor’s days as a professional fighter may be over—and that the 38-year-old could have the ideal next chapter in sports entertainment.
The social-media phenomenon didn’t end with him posting comments in public. Paul has admitted that after McGregor’s loss, he reached out to WWE management and proposed a massive bout between the two top stars from both countries. McGregor, in his opinion, already has all the necessary tools to be a WWE success: charisma, trash-talking skills, controversial personality, and world renown.
A Logan Paul vs. Conor McGregor WWE match will bring a lot of attention to professional wrestling, MMA, and social media. Both men know how to create a competition, market an event, and retain millions of fans. They had also been involved in a few public squabbles before, which would provide an instant storyline for WWE.
But McGregor has made it clear on numerous occasions that he wants to fight again and go through the rest of the fight on his UFC card. That’s a possibility in the near future, as his current knee injury may make it tougher and tougher to believe he’ll come back to the ring for WWE.
